Where Horses, Nature, Connection, and Neuroscience Meet to Inspire Growth and Healing.
At Tahoe Reins, we believe that healing, growth, and resilience develop through safe, connected relationships.
Grounded in the neuroscience of trauma, attachment, and nervous system regulation, our equine-assisted services provide opportunities for children, teens, adults, families, and neurodivergent individuals to build confidence, strengthen emotional well-being, develop healthy relationships, and discover new possibilities for themselves.
Horses are uniquely suited to this work. As highly social and sensitive animals, they respond to authenticity, presence, and connection rather than judgment or expectation. Through carefully guided interactions with horses, participants gain greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, communication skills, confidence, and resilience in a supportive and experiential environment.
Many of the individuals we serve are navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, ADHD, autism, sensory processing differences, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, or feelings of disconnection. Our approach honors each person's unique experiences, strengths, and way of engaging with the world.
At Tahoe Reins, we do not focus on fixing people. We focus on creating opportunities for meaningful connection, nervous system regulation, self-discovery, and growth. Through these experiences, participants can develop skills and insights that positively impact relationships at home, school, work, and within their communities.
Whether seeking personal growth, emotional wellness, family connection, or support through life's challenges, Tahoe Reins offers a space where people can feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Heather created Tahoe Reins out of a lifelong love of horses and a deep belief in their ability to help people grow and heal.
Over the years, Heather has experienced the powerful connection that can form between humans and horses. She has seen how horses naturally reflect our emotions and behaviors, offering honest feedback that helps people develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and trust. As a mother, horsewoman, and nature lover, Heather is passionate about creating experiences that bring people back to what matters most—connection, presence, and authenticity. Through Tahoe Reins, she hopes to offer a space where people can slow down, learn from horses, and rediscover their own strength and resilience.
She has facilitated Equine Assisted Therapy for over a year in Reno, NV working with clients from 8 to over 50 years old. She is currently in the process of getting her Nevada Qualified Mental Health Associate certification along with her Natural Lifemanship Dual Certification (NLC-P, EP) – For practitioners with the horse experience necessary to deliver trauma informed equine-assisted services with or without a partner or partner with a licensed therapist as an equine professional. This certification includes 60 clinical hours directly working with clients, and case consultation.
Heather has lived in the Tahoe Truckee area for over 25 years and has three children, 2 horses, a dog and cat and enjoys everything Truckee Tahoe has to offer.
